Halichoeres chrysus

The Canary Wrasse, Halichoeres chrysus, is omnivorous. These are also called "Golden Wrasse" and "Yellow Coris", although they are obviously not from the Coris genus. The one in my tank eats anything I offer. In the wild they tend to eat tiny invertebrates like worms, pods and small crustaceans. Mine picks up a Nassarius snail occasionally, but doesn't do any damage. All wrasses in this genus start out female and eventually mature into males. The photo above shows mine just beginning to get male coloration. These wrasses are my favorite. Only growing to about 5 inches in length, they are great for almost any tank. Reef safe. Update: Mine got caught in my overflow and ended up dieing.
